Those who think Nick Jonas’s diabetes plight is easy should think again says the father of the Jonas Brothers.
Kevin Jonas Sr. has to watch his 15-year old son manage his insulin levels everyday, and insists those who dismiss the blood sugar disease should spend a day on a tourbus with Nick to see how tough it is.
The young singer, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2005, spent nine months trying to stabilise his condition and now has an exhaustive daily routine of jabs, tests and treatment - just to stay healthy.
His dad says: "I can't tell you how frustrating it is to hear people belittle diabetes because it's maintainable.
"They've never had to sit on a bus when a pump didn't work and a second pump didn't work... and a third didn't, and he had to give himself a shot when we're driving down a highway.
"Everybody on our team is on full alert, watching every move Nick makes on that stage every single night of his life."
In a new Rolling Stone magazine expose, Nick reveals he has an insulin pump and catheter attached to his back when he performs so he can stabilise the insulin levels in his system throughout shows.
He also pricks his finger as much as 12 times a day so he can check his blood-sugar levels.
